Happy Birthday - Comic

 Hey guys,

Today I am posting bout' a little comic I made and wrote retelling about the story I chose to read for reading. And making a comic was one of the activities we had to do. We had to include the important events in the story and I did try to add us much of the important events in the story so I hope you enjoy it.

I also used this site called Pixton which was very fun but quite confusing to use, but its only at first and once you get used to it, it is very fun to use. There were many choices to choose from to make a comic bout' the book and I really wanted to use something new so I chose Pixton. (you guys should try it too:))

have a great day^

Features of an Article

 Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well during this lock down. At the start of this week we began having online calls and work. Our teacher linked another site in our Senior Syndicate site called Home Learning. There is a slideshow where we can choose what work to do. Like reading, writing, math and R.E, we didn't have to do them in order. In the slideshow, it had many links to activities and sites and we either had to share our learning or make a video, etc. For writing our focus was features of an article. It's mostly about what is included in a type of article. For example; a newspaper article has to include a headline, pictures, title and a certain topic and more. The types of articles that there is, are magazine articles, tv news articles and more.

The one I personally chose was the newspaper article one. Since we were allowed to talk about a certain topic that we think our readers would enjoy, I chose to do one bout' a Korean drama that lots of people had fun watching, and I hope you enjoy reading its story line as I describe what happens in the drama.

I also tried to make it look like a real newspaper but.. I don't think it looks like one but I really do hope you like :) it!

Orana Wildlife Park

 Hello everyone,

Yesterday was very exciting. We went on a trip to Orana Park and as you know we are learning about Biodiversity and Orana Park is probably the second zoo I've been to. It was quite a long trip and after we arrived we got separated in to two groups. Room 5 and Room 6. As we were separated we had a our educator and her name was Sarah. Sarah showed us lots of interesting animals that some of us probably never saw before. She also taught us some facts about them and we even got to feed giraffes. Did you know that you can tell if an animal is a mammal if they have fur and give birth to living babies and are warm blooded?

:)

We got to see many animals really close like gorillas and gibbons and lions and other animals. We also went to a frog house and we got to discover native frogs and ones that aren't from NZ. We also went inside this small house that was very dark but only a little light was showing and it was a place where this little kiwi named Sonic was living. Before going in we were told by Sarah that we had to be quiet because that the kiwi was shy and hides when there is a lot of noises. When we got in it was quite hard to see and spot where the kiwi was. But it didn't take too long for us to spot the kiwi. He was cute and small. Did you know that kiwis have bad eye sight and uses their whiskers to help them see in the dark?

We also went inside the reptile house which obviously had different kinds of reptiles. Did you know all cold blooded animals hibernate through the winter?

(This one is probably sleeping :O)

It was a very interesting experience, especially going to the farm yard was quite fun, seeing animals walking around and pooing. :]

What is an ecosystem?

 Hey everyone,

This term we are learning about Biodiversity and the ecosystem. We read lots of information about Biodiversity from many sites that was linked in our Senior Syndicate site. I've already posted one of the activities from our site that is about Biodiversity and now I am posting about one of the Understanding tasks. For this task we had to explain what an ecosystem is in a way people will understand. I have decided to make a poster using canva and write a brief explanation what it is and some images to show what ecosystems can look like.

Here it is:

How do dog's "see" with their noses?

 Hello Everyone,

Me and my buddy have been currently working on our information report about how dog's see with their noses. We have now finished it and it has many things about how dog's see with their noses. Last week we watched a video about it and there were questions we had to answer and it was kinda of just a summery of the video. After, we were given a piece of paper as our plan to create a information report about how dog's see with their noses. Me and my buddy had to do a lot of thinking making sure each paragraph was quite different and that the conclusion summaries up everything.

It was quite fun doing a information report about how dog's see with their noses, because not only we got to research about it, we learnt lots of interesting facts about dogs noses. Did you know dog's can breathe in and out at the same time?

How do Dogs “see” with their noses?

Dogs have many different kinds of features but their nose is the best feature of all. Other species might have a great sense of smell but a dog’s sense of smell is quite different to others.

If you ever wonder how a dog’s nose works, inside there are two separate parts. One for smelling and

the other for breathing. Their noses have many features that help it work. The part of their brain that helps

them identify scents and smells is smarter and stronger than a human’s brain. Dogs can help us humans

cause they can also tell if you have cancer or any type of sickness which is why they are better at smelling

than us.

The dog's brain has a good memory. Once they smell something it gets stuck in their head, and if they ever

come across it again they will know what it is. For example: If a car was in a parking lot and it just left

then a dog will know that a car has been there cause they know the smell of a car, another example is that if

a person was sitting next to a tree and just left then a dog came by then they will know that there has been a

person there cause they know a smell of a person. Dogs are really smart when it comes to smelling different

types of things.

A dog’s nose can’t only smell, but can also sense different types of emotions and things. An example of

this is when someone is feeling quite emotional and upset. A dog can sense their emotions through their

smell by feeling and being familiar with the smell to know how someone is feeling. They can also identify

an object or a thing by being able to smell it once and remembering the scent of it.

The amount of help they give through their noses for everyone and themselves is truly wonderful. Did you

know that dogs have 300 million smell cells and humans only have 5 million? Dogs have many other

amazing features about their noses and also different body parts too but the nose is definitely a feature that

can help us and others.

What is Biodiversity?

 Kia ora everyone,

Since our topic for the term is about Biodiversity, we will be doing activities about it. We would also be learning more about Biodiversity. In a site that was shown to us, there were three main topics, one had videos and sites to learn about Biodiversity, the other had many activities that we had to chose from and the last one had share written on it which was probably to share your learning on your blog. Today I've finished one of the remembering task in the site and it was to make a diagram explaining Biodiversity. I'm not really use to making diagrams so I did my best and I hope you like it. :)

Dragon Report

Kia ora everyone, it has been a long time since I've posted and I apologized for that. Today I am posting about the dragon writing I have written a few weeks ago. The start of this term our topic for writing has about dragons and we've also learn 6 different sentence types, for example: Noun W, DE:DE and Some;Others and more. Using these sentence types, we tried writing our own sentence about dragons. After, we were shown different types of dragons for example: Blue dragons, white dragons and more.

We had to choose one of these dragons to write about and I chose white dragons. It was more of a dragon report we had to write and in it, it had to include the 6 different sentence types and the features and what the dragon can do. I did it with Greer, and we chose to do white dragons. After we finished our writing, we shared it with our principal and she quite liked it. Lastly, it was our time to write our own dragon report and also illustrate it. We had to include the 6 different sentence types and sub headings to our writing. Our main point for our writing was to make it really interesting and being really creative about our dragons.

Here is my dragon report:

Wingless Fire Dragons

Wingless Fire Dragons are one of the rarest, mythical fire dragons: they can cause any kinds of blizzards or storms using their fireball breath. These rare creatures have been living for more than ten decades and are still alive hiding, trying not to be seen by any explorers or any other creatures. They used to like being exposed to the public and causing trouble but now they are afraid to fight because of the new dangers of the world. Various fire dragons are red, dark red, or other shades of red but these dragons are bright orange which makes them stand out in front of other fire dragons.

Appearance

Due to their name ‘wingless fire dragons', they are the only fire dragons that can impressively fly without wings. Surprisingly, they have the smoothest skin that a dragon can ever have. Their bodies are very long, in fact, if they stood up they would be incredibly taller than a mountain or a building. Some of these dragons have sharpened horns that can rip anything apart; others are hornless but can still strangely defeat a dragon with horns. They have extremely sharp and veiny claws that really stand out when fighting other dragons. Their feet are kinda the same but their feet have more gripping skills than their claws. Furthermore, they have thick hair at the end of their tails which is the only part of their body that grows hair.

Habitat

Way low down the tall grass, the Wingless Fire Dragon hides and waits for its enemies to fly away. Now these days, when these dragons reach old age, they tend to hide a lot so that they will not be attacked. It is not because they are getting weak, it is because when fighting other dragons they get exposed easily with how rough and tough they are so they do their best to hide. Some of these innocent, clueless dragons like to roam around near grassy, plain mountains. Many of these creatures have the same diet as other dragons - meat, beef, lambs - are all examples of the food they like to eat.

Amazing facts

Some wingless fire dragons, which are gentle and affectionate, can live longer than an arrogant and menacing dragon. They have amazing flying skills but animals like unicorns, griffins, and other mythical creatures can do much better which makes them kinda mad and jealous, and at this state they tend to cause a fight or start attacking other animals and release their anger on them.

There are other creatures that they also do not like, for example: humans. They act like humans don’t exist and when they come across them, they just ignore them and act like they were never there. Humans are obviously aware of it so they do the same thing and ignore them. As you can see, these creatures have different personalities. Did you know that these creatures' fireball breath can also melt tons of ice in less than a second? They are powerful in many ways and are one of the most powerful dragons that will live till the end of time.
