The BFG - Character Description

Part of the school is the doing the Summer Learning Journey and this week is the Teaser Week which is we have to practice and some activities are on it for us to choose. There was also someone that came and helped us with what we had to do and her name was Emma. I'm not sure if you've met her but she is one of the people that comments on peoples blogs. There are three activities and I choose the third one about the BFG and I had to write an character description about him.

  2. Mōrena Denise!

My name is Mikey. I'm a member of the Summer Learning Journey team this year and I'll be commenting on some of your wonderful blog post over the summer. It's so great to see that you've made a start on the teaser week activities - well done! :)

Wow, what a fantastic character description! I like how you've not only talked about his appearance but you've mentioned his personality too. It really helps your reader get a good, overall picture of the person (or giant) you're describing. You're drawing is amazing too! Even though you've just done a silhouette I can make out the big ears you talked about and the ragged clothes. Have you read the BFG? I remember reading it when I was at school. It was one of my favourite Roald Dahl books. I liked James and the Giant Peach too. Have you read that one? I'd definitely recommend it.

Congratulations again on completing your first task! Remember that the programme officially begins next Monday (December 16th), so be sure to check out the Week 1 activities then. In the meantime, keep going with the teaser week activities - I can't wait to read more! :)

    Bye for now,

    Mikey

    1. Hi Mikey!, I'm really happy that you commented on my blog and thank you. I have read the BFG and James and the Giant Peach and they were both awesome. I feel like I have read nearly all of Roald Dahl's books but I'm not quite sure. I will try and do more teaser week activities and I'm quite excited to be blogging during the holidays. Hope you'll still come back and comment on my Summer Learing Journey blog posts during the holidays.:)

    4. Kia ora Denise,

You're so right! That's one of my favourite things about reading - you kind of get lost in the story. Have you seen The BFG movie too?

      Bye for now,

      Mikey :)
