MouseTrap

WALT increase speed when unpacking sentences using ITTM.

This week in our class, we have been reading new stories in our groups and in Sophie, me and my group is reading The Mousetrap. The story were reading is fiction so we did not do a information web like last week. What we did is, the story we are given has activities in it, but some is of our activities is done in our books and some in our devices, and this one is done in a google drawing.

The story is about a mouse in a house and the main character, Mum hates mice and she told Dad (which is also the main character in the story) to make a mousetrap for the mouse, but every time they let it go, they kept catching the same mouse and at the end they realise that it was the same mouse that they kept catching every time.

The activity was to make our own mousetrap without harming the mouse and we had to explain in detail for what we did.

Where Are You From?

WALT investigate cultures and traditions within class.
In class for Integrated Learning, we are learning about Taonga, and one of the things that we are also focusing about is cultures and traditions. For what we had to do is to learn more things about our cultures and our traditions and to make an DLO to show our learning about our culture and our traditions.
A tradition is to past something or to give, or to do something in generations.
Culture is your background, who you are and your nationality.

How about you, what is your nationality? and what else do you know that I don't know about my culture?

Farmer Chas and His Dogs

WALT increase speed when unpacking sentences using ITTM.

In class, this week, me and my reading group is reading a passage called Farmer Chas and His Dogs and it is about what he and his dogs do in the farm.
Also as you can see we did another information web but different to last week and the information web has to be about the story we are reading as a group.

Exploration (Bubbly Blast Off)

WALT share what we have explored with whanau.

Last term, in term 3, we have been learning about exploration and what we did was some experiment about different things we can do with baking soda and vinegar. Our class was separated into groups of three, and planning what we were going to do or change the experiment we did before and there was the Rocket, Balloon, and the volcano experiment and we had to choose between those three to change or do for Celebration of Learning.

The changes we made as a group, it wasn't that big. Some group decided to add food colouring or more baking soda or vinegar. But the changes we made, was not the big or difficult. If we were going to add new things to our experiment, we were expected to bring our own, things if we were going to do that. For my group, we were going to use straws to our experiment but decided not to. We just used straws.

What I have found hard is that, you have to put the vinegar in and with the tissue because it wasn't to skinny enough to put it in the bottle.

Something that I have enjoyed is that, we get to plan as a group and put all things we added in together.
If by any chance we might have another Celebration of Learning, what I think I can do or me and my group can do, is to maybe put more effort onto it or thinking of other ways to make it more different to the one we did before any of the planning started.

 Here are some images:

( Successful!?)

( Or Not! )

Also try to go and visit other people in my class and see what they changed or do with their experiment.

My Taonga

WALT define and identify our own 'taonga'.
This term, in term 4, we are going to focus about taonga and what it is to us and other things
that are related to it. As our teacher said, our class might be doing lots of work on taonga
and maybe other cultures too. For our task, we looked at some pictures that were put up on
the screen and thought of reasons why it can be precious to us, and now we had to make a
poster and put or draw some pictures in the poster to represent your taonga.

Taonga is a Maori word and what it is, is like a treasure or something precious to you that you
have kept and any kind of object or resources that have been kept long ago or passed into
generations.

I choose to put my family and friends in this poster because they are the people that are
really important to me in this world but not only them and as you can also see I have also
put the earth and the bible, because this earth is also a part of who I am and I wouldn't be
alive if this earth isn't living and I'm sure it is for you too, because you would be very happy
that your are on this earth having fun and being with your loved ones.

Even if you are sad, our God will never let go of us because he knows that he would be very
lonely if he didn't make us. Lastly, I also have put the sea and a map of the Philippines,
because in my home country which is the Philippines, we have lots of beaches and rivers
and some lakes and while growing up, I have been obsessed with the ocean even though I
didn't get to go to a beach when I was younger but not much swimming pools.

I feel like all of my taonga makes me feel really happy and just want to do anything I want
without other people noticing because in life you just want to not waste things that you
think that can help you in the future.

Happy Hens

WALT increase speed when unpacking sentences using ITTM.
This term, for our first week back we still read a passage and it is a non-fiction one. It is called Happy Hens and it is about a boy that has a farm with hens in it, it is also about what it does during day.
For one of our task we had to do an information web about the story we read and put the information that is in the story, in the information web.
